Anne Grimdalen’s majestic bear sculpture welcomes guests in the courtyard, while international works, such as Enrique Martínez Cunells’ Spanish coastal scenes, add a global dimension.

History

Borregaard Hovedgård is a place where history quite literally lives within the walls. Set high and secure above the river Glomma, people have lived, worked, and dreamed here for more than a thousand years. From the royal estate of Viking kings to a distinguished manor, through the rise of industry and into its present life as a hotel, Borregaard holds a story shaped by power, vision, art, and enduring continuity.

The Staff Residence

Up to 30 guests

Once the home of the estate’s staff, the Staff Residence has been carefully transformed into an atmospheric event house defined by discreet luxury and a strong sense of history. Here, intimate gatherings and professional groups find the calm and personal setting that only a manor environment can offer.

At its heart lies the event kitchen, equipped with four fully appointed kitchen stations—designed for courses, interactive culinary experiences, and creative cooking sessions for 16–20 participants. Around the long communal table, up to 25–30 guests gather for conversation, celebration, and shared moments.

Four flexible meeting rooms provide space for inspiring discussions and bespoke events, all set within surroundings where tradition and quality exist in quiet harmony.

The Barn – From Historic Byre to Living Conference Hotel

9 meeting rooms
Capacity: 2–120 guests

Once, the Barn at Borregaard echoed with the sounds of livestock and daily work at the heart of estate life. Today, its solid timber walls have been preserved as a living framework for meetings, conferences, and meaningful gatherings. Here, the gentle calm of history meets modern comfort, allowing past and present to enrich one another.

The Barn now houses guest rooms overlooking the courtyard and gardens, along with a restaurant, bar, and lounge defined by warmth and character. Dedicated areas for both fitness and games add space for balance and informal moments.

This is a place where conversations flow, pauses feel natural, and lasting memories are created—within surroundings that still carry the soul of the estate.
